History Rocks! at the NIU East Lagoon, October 2014
Co-Curated For the NIU Anthropology Museum 50th Anniversary Exhibit
Chosen Object: 20th century Philippine Meriones Mask
The Object was chosen by history members Jessie Shattuck, Markie Striegel, Crispin Brim, and David Mackley
"History Club was looking for an object that is the most representative of human history across cultures. We chose this object because of its multi-dimensional display of subjects that historians study, such as warfare, religion, colonialism, and trade. This is a great piece that combines a Philippine tradition with Roman imagery, made with recycled materials including newspapers and a cracker tin that has English written on them. We also wanted the History Club selection to stand out in the exhibit, and we think this is an eye-catching artifact!"
